NEW MARKET, Md. — Authorities have arrested a Florida man in connection with the August 25 murders of Crimea Malita Baker and Sean Antoine Lange in New Market. David Phillip Turner, 33, of Miami, was taken into custody on Saturday by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and the FBI, in coordination with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest follows more than a month of investigation into the fatal shootings, which occurred at a residence on Mandalong Court. Sheriff Chuck Jenkins praised the collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies and the community, stating, “This investigation has been a priority of this office since the morning of the shootings.”
Deputies responded to the home on August 25 at approximately 7 a.m. and found Baker and Lange shot multiple times in an upstairs bedroom. Four children were also inside the home but were unharmed.
Detectives believe Baker and Lange were living together at the time of the incident, with Baker being the mother of all four children, and Lange the father of one.
Turner is facing charges including two counts of first-degree murder and home invasion. He is being held in Florida awaiting extradition to Maryland.
