MANHATTAN, N.Y. — An unidentified man was found dead in the water near West 79th Street and Riverside Drive on Monday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 7:20 a.m. and discovered the unconscious and unresponsive man floating in the water. Emergency responders from the NYPD Harbor Unit and the Emergency Service Unit retrieved the body from the water.
EMS personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.
Police have not yet identified the deceased, and the investigation remains ongoing.
