MANHATTAN, N.Y. – Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Jr., announced today the sentencing of 28-year-old Alex Ray Scott to 22 years-to-life in state prison for the brutal 2020 murder of Kenneth Savinski. Scott, who fatally stabbed 64-year-old Savinski in his Upper East Side apartment, pleaded guilty earlier this month to second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property.
District Attorney Bragg emphasized the deep impact of Savinski’s death, describing him as a beloved and respected figure in his community. The January 27, 2020, incident unfolded after Scott and Savinski spent an evening together and returned to Savinski’s apartment near East 83rd Street. Once inside, Scott stabbed Savinski multiple times, inflicting fatal wounds to his head and neck.
Scott was later found wearing Savinski’s clothes and in possession of his stolen credit cards. After a two-day manhunt, she turned herself in to the Midtown North Precinct. Sentencing brings closure to the case, offering some justice for the friends and family of Mr. Savinski.
