NANTUCKET, Mass. — Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston arrested a 49-year-old Salvadoran national on Sept. 10, who faces 11 charges related to sex crimes against a child in Nantucket. Elmer Sola, who entered the United States unlawfully, is charged with multiple offenses involving a minor.
Sola was arraigned in Nantucket Superior Court on Aug. 14 on three counts of aggravated rape of a child and eight counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
“We will continue to prioritize the safety of our public by arresting and removing egregious noncitizen offenders,” said ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons.
Sola entered the U.S. at an unknown location and time without being inspected, admitted, or paroled by immigration authorities, according to officials. Further details about his entry into the country and the circumstances leading to the alleged crimes have not been provided.
Sola remains in ERO custody following his arrest. His immigration status will be determined through proceedings conducted by the Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review, which operates independently from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
ERO Boston continues its efforts to apprehend and remove noncitizens involved in criminal activity, prioritizing those who pose threats to public safety.
