CHICAGO, Sept. 25 — A Cicero man has been charged in connection with the armed robbery of a 29-year-old woman on a train in Chicago’s 15th District. Geronimo Espinoso, 32, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and is facing one felony count of armed robbery and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass to state land.
Authorities said Espinoso was taken into custody at 12:48 p.m. in the 700 block of South Cicero Avenue. Police identified him as the suspect in a robbery that took place earlier that day on a train in the same area.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly robbed of her personal belongings by Espinoso, who was armed with a dangerous weapon. No further details about the weapon or the stolen items have been released.
Espinoso is scheduled for a detention hearing at the Cook County Courthouse, located at 2600 South California Avenue, on Wednesday. Police have not provided additional information on the case.
