Seat Pleasant, MD—A mother faces several charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly shooting her 13-year-old daughter.
On September 23, just before 5 PM, police responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of 69th Place. Officers found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body, and she was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Gun Crimes Unit assisted in the investigation, which revealed that 32-year-old Talecka Brown shot her daughter inside their home.
Authorities have charged Brown with first-degree attempted murder, among other charges. She is currently at the Department of Corrections awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Acting Chief Heyward commended officers for their rapid response, noting the tragic nature of violence within families. He expressed concern for the emotional trauma the victim will endure and reaffirmed the commitment to holding Brown accountable for her actions.
