NEWARK, NJ** — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé has asked for public assistance in locating Tahib Whiteside, 18, of Newark. Whiteside is wanted for questioning regarding a robbery that took place on July 28.
The incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. after the victim responded to a post on Facebook Marketplace to buy a PlayStation video game console. Upon meeting in the 300 block of Morris Avenue, the suspect brandished a knife and attempted to cut the victim.
The victim managed to wrestle with the suspect, who then took the victim’s wallet and fled southbound on Morris Avenue. Director Fragé urges anyone with information to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
