LANDOVER HILLS, Md. — The Prince George’s County Police Department is conducting an investigation after a student brought a gun onto school property at Ellen Ochoa Middle School.
On Wednesday, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Prince George’s County Police Department was notified by school security personnel that a firearm had been recovered from a 13-year-old male student’s bookbag. The investigation revealed that other students had alerted school officials about the possible presence of a firearm, prompting the search.
The firearm was found alongside ammunition in the student’s possession. The student is currently in custody and will face multiple charges, including the possession of a handgun, having a dangerous weapon on school property, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
School officials have expressed concern over the incident, which underscores the importance of vigilant reporting by students and staff. No injuries were reported, and the situation was swiftly managed by school security.
The Prince George’s County Police Department is continuing its investigation to ensure the safety and security of all students and faculty members. School operations have returned to normal, and counseling services are being offered to any students affected by the incident.
