CUMBERLAND, MD — Authorities have apprehended four individuals in connection with an assault and kidnapping incident in Cumberland.
On September 4, at 2:00 a.m., Maryland State Police Troopers responded to the 16000 block of McMullen Highway for an assault report. Upon arrival, they found a 41-year-old male who claimed to have been kidnapped from a residence on Bedford Street in Cumberland City. The victim reported being driven into the county, assaulted, and subsequently removed from the vehicle. He was taken to UPMC Cumberland by ambulance for treatment.
Detectives with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I), Maryland State Police Troopers, and the Cumberland Police Department conducted a detailed investigation. They executed search warrants at multiple locations within Allegany County and Cumberland City, assisted by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Response Team. Numerous interviews were conducted during the investigation.
The investigation culminated in the arrest of James Dylan Miller, 22, Xavier Zhane Barger, 22, Kevin Francis Hupe, 32, and Sincere Jayvon Unique Isaac, 22, all from Cumberland. Each has been charged
