Garnerville, NY – District Attorney Tom Walsh, along with Chief Assistant District Attorney Patrick Frawley, participated in the Carnival for Canines benefit held to support Rockland County K9s and the Spikes K9 Fund. The event took place at Hudson’s Mill in Garnerville and raised funds to offset the substantial costs of maintaining police K9 units, which are vital non-lethal tools for law enforcement.
Two K9 officers, Shadow from the Clarkstown Police Department and Duke from the Haverstraw Police Department, will receive bullet-proof vests funded by the proceeds from the benefit, courtesy of the Spikes K9 Fund. These vests are essential for their safety during operations, enhancing the overall capability of law enforcement agencies in the area.
The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office also showcased its own K9, Remy, and her handler, Detective Tim Hayes. Remy demonstrated her electronics detection skills at the event, engaging with attendees and providing an insight into the crucial role of K9 units in modern law enforcement.
