DOVER, Del. – A 13-year-old boy from Seaford was arrested after making threats toward Dover Middle School on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Dover Police Department. The boy, who is not a student at the school, is accused of calling 911 multiple times to report a bomb and a planned shooting on the campus.
The threats were made at approximately 2:23 p.m., as the school was preparing for dismissal. Parents were already on site, and buses had arrived. School Resource Officers were immediately notified, and additional officers responded to provide extra security. The decision was made to dismiss students on time, with officers ensuring the safety of those leaving the campus.
Once the school was cleared of staff and students, law enforcement, assisted by K-9 units from multiple agencies, conducted a thorough search of the premises. After two hours, the school was deemed safe.
Detectives quickly identified the 13-year-old as the individual responsible for the threats. He was arrested the following day, on September 18, and processed at the Dover Police Department. He was charged with terroristic threatening and malicious interference with emergency communications before being released to a guardian.
