Jersey City, NJ – Latonia Bellamy was re-sentenced to 70 years in New Jersey State Prison on Monday for her involvement in the 2010 murders of Michael Muchioki and Nia Haqq. Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez handed down the sentence.
Bellamy, 33, received a 30-year sentence with 30 years parole ineligibility for Felony Murder related to Muchioki’s death. This will run concurrently with a 10-year sentence for Robbery. Additionally, she was given a 40-year term in prison for Murder with 85% parole ineligibility related to Haqq’s death, concurrent with a 10-year sentence for Carjacking, a 10-year sentence for Robbery, and a 5-year sentence for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Parole eligibility will not be possible until 64 years of the sentence are served.
Bellamy was initially convicted on June 21, 2012. The incident, which took place on April 4, 2010, involved the robbery and fatal shooting of Muchioki, 27, and Haqq
