Stamford, CT – In response to growing concerns over illegal THC products and vape sales to minors at local smoke shops, the Stamford Police Department’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit initiated an investigation in collaboration with the Department of Consumer Protection’s Drug Control Division and the Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services’ Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program.
On Thursday, law enforcement visited several smoke shops to conduct compliance checks. At Black Star Smoke Shop located at 335 West Main St., an underage individual successfully purchased a vape cartridge without being asked for identification. The clerk received an infraction, and authorities confiscated 648 illegal THC products.
Similarly, at Zaza Smoke Shop, situated at 1990 West Main St., another underage individual purchased a vape without undergoing an ID check. The clerk was issued an infraction, and 488 illegal THC products were seized from the premises.
Authorities also visited Smokey Bear Smoke Shop at 59 Broad St., where a minor was able to purchase a vape. Although no illegal THC products were found at this location, the clerk was cited for the underage sale.
