Manchester, NJ – On Wednesday, officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of State Highway 70 and Wilbur Avenue.
Arriving at approximately 10:41 PM, police discovered a blue 2016 Hyundai Accent with significant front passenger side damage.
The pedestrian, identified as 37-year-old Catherine L. Camargo, was found lying in the roadway and pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, Adam J. Lilley, 48, of Manchester, reported no injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate the Hyundai was traveling west on State Highway 70 before the accident. The vehicle struck Camargo, who was standing in the westbound lane under low-light conditions, shortly after passing the Green Acres Road intersection. The vehicle was found to be in good operating condition with all required lights functioning, and Lilley pulled over and called 9-1-1 immediately following the incident.
Emergency Medical Services from Manchester Township, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company firefighters, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation Diversion Team responded to the scene. Additional assistance was provided by
