Atlantic City, NJ -The Atlantic City Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that injured two individuals and resulted in one arrest.
On Tuesday at 7:26 PM, patrol officers responded to the 4000 block of Ventnor Avenue following a ShotSpotter alert and reports of gunfire. Off-duty Officer Marquez Jones, who was nearby, arrived quickly and found Kevin Hollingsworth and a woman with gunshot wounds. Both Hollingsworth and the female victim, 37, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, were transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation revealed that a crime scene with evidence of gunfire was found on both sides of Ventnor Avenue. Detectives learned that Hollingsworth had been involved in a verbal altercation with several individuals which escalated into an exchange of gunfire. The other individuals fled the scene, while Hollingsworth entered a nearby business and discarded a handgun that was subsequently recovered.
