PHILADELPHIA, PA — A man was shot and killed late Wednesday night on the unit block of South 2nd Street in the city’s 9th District, according to police. Officers responded to a call at 11:26 p.m. reporting gunshots and a man lying on the street.
Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive black male with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 33-year-old Michael Clemens of the 400 block of East Montana Street, was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 12:04 a.m. on Thursday.
A loaded firearm was recovered at the scene next to the victim, police said. Authorities have not made any arrests, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the unit at 215-686-3334 or text the PPD’s tipline at 215-686-TIPS. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
