LODI, N.J. – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of Jaquil M. Brown, 29, of Paterson, and Shaheem A. Clark, 19, of Elmwood Park, in connection with an armed robbery and shooting that occurred on July 21, 2024. The arrests follow a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lodi Police Department.
The incident began in a parking lot on Route 17 in Lodi, when a group of friends was approached by an armed suspect who demanded a wristwatch and assaulted one of the victims. The suspects fled in a getaway car, pursued by the victims. While driving on Route 80 in Paterson, one suspect fired two shots at the victims’ vehicle, injuring the driver with shattered glass.
Authorities identified Brown as the driver and Clark as the passenger and shooter. Brown was arrested on July 25, 2024, and charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree armed robbery. Clark, already in custody in Hudson County on an unrelated matter, was charged with first-degree attempted murder and armed robbery on August 28, 2024.
Both suspects remain in custody pending further court actions. Prosecutor Musella reminded the public that the charges are accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
