WHITE MARSH, Md. — A Baltimore County resident is celebrating an unexpected $50,000 prize from a Maryland Lottery scratch-off, which she is calling an early retirement gift. The White Marsh woman, who requested to be identified as “Chris,” won the second-tier prize on the $10 Ultimate Cash game.
A longtime fan of Lottery games, “Chris” typically plays Keno but decided to try her luck with scratch-offs while at a 7-Eleven in Nottingham. She bought two Ultimate Cash tickets, one for herself and one for her husband. As they scratched the tickets at home, she quickly realized she had hit it big.
“I was in shock, absolutely stunned,” she said. “Winning never really seemed possible, but I’ve always enjoyed playing. This makes it worth it.”
The win comes at an opportune time, as “Chris” plans to retire in October. She views the prize as a boost for her retirement, with plans to put most of the money into a retirement account and to help her children financially.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven on Perry Hall Boulevard in Nottingham. The Ultimate Cash game still has several unclaimed prizes, including three $100,000 top prizes and two more $50,000 prizes.
