NEW YORK, Sept. 3 — An off-duty New York City Police Department employee was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with multiple assault-related offenses. Drew Winkler, a 29-year-old research specialist with the NYPD, was taken into custody at 7:38 a.m. within the confines of the 1st Precinct.
Winkler faces charges of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and second-degree strangulation. The circumstances surrounding the arrest have not been disclosed by authorities.
The NYPD has not provided any further details on the case. The charges, which include strangulation, suggest the alleged incident was serious in nature.
