BOSTON, Mass. — A routine traffic stop in Dorchester early Monday morning led to the arrest of a Hyde Park man on multiple charges, including firearm and drug offenses.
Boston police officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) pulled over a vehicle at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Washington Street after noticing the car’s expired registration. The driver, identified as Lorenzo Beechman, 37, was subsequently removed from the vehicle due to safety concerns.
During the investigation, officers discovered a firearm under the passenger seat and a plastic bag containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine. Beechman attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended following a brief foot chase outside 287 Washington Street.
The firearm was identified as a loaded Smith & Wesson Shield 9EZ 9MM, with a round in the chamber and eight additional rounds in the magazine. Beechman faces several charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a Class B substance, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
