STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A severe storm that swept through the Hartwood area has resulted in significant damage, leading to the closure of Spotted Tavern Road due to downed trees and power lines. The Office of Stafford County Sheriff David “DP” Decatur reported that the road remains closed as crews from VDOT and NOVEC work to clear the scene.
The Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit is on-site to assist with cleanup efforts, and authorities do not expect the road closure to last all day. Residents are urged to exercise caution if they must travel through the area, as trees are reported to be on power lines across Hartwood.
In response to the situation, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with Stafford County Fire and Rescue and Emergency Management to provide assistance to residents on Spotted Tavern Road. Deputies on the scene are available to help those in need of water, and residents can also contact the Communications Center at 540-658-4400 for assistance.
Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
