POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK — Sgt. Alonzo Montanya of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office was recognized as the New York State Youth Officer of the Year by the State of New York Police Juvenile Officers Association (SNYPJOA). The award was presented to Sgt. Montanya on August 22 during the association’s annual training conference.
The recognition highlights Sgt. Montanya’s outstanding advocacy for children and his unwavering dedication to the community. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office praised Sgt. Montanya’s efforts, noting that his commitment to youth and public service is unparalleled.

The award was presented by SNYPJOA officials, including former President Devine Leacock, Executive Director Brian Forte, and Training Director C.
