REHOBOTH BAY, Del. — The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a search for a 46-year-old man who went missing after departing Indian River Inlet on Monday morning with plans to fish offshore.
The missing boater, who last communicated with his father at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, was reported missing after failing to check in on Tuesday night. He was last seen heading 10 to 15 nautical miles offshore from Rehoboth Bay in a 24-foot Hydra-Sport boat.
Authorities are urging the public to keep an eye out for the missing vessel. Anyone with information regarding the boat’s whereabouts or who may have seen the vessel is asked to contact the Sector Delaware Bay Command Center’s 24/7 hotline at 215-271-4960.
The search operation remains ongoing as the Coast Guard continues efforts to locate the missing boater.
