PHILADELPHIA — A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a series of unprovoked assaults on multiple individuals in Center City Philadelphia on Monday morning. The incident occurred on August 26, 2024, at approximately 7:15 a.m. near the 2200 block of Market Street.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Donnell Bruce, began his attack by pushing three elderly pedestrians—two women and one man—to the ground. He then continued west on Market Street, where he assaulted a 22-year-old woman, striking her in the face with a closed fist and knocking her to the ground.
Bruce also attempted to steal a bag from a 77-year-old man, and when the man resisted, Bruce punched him in the mouth.
Responding officers quickly arrived at the scene and located the suspect. After a brief foot pursuit, Bruce was detained and positively identified by the victims. All five victims sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Donnell Bruce has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, and other related offenses.
“The swift response by our officers led to the apprehension of the suspect and prevented further harm,” the Philadelphia Police Department stated.
