TOWSON, Md. — A Baltimore County man has been charged with attempted murder following a highway shooting incident in Howard County earlier this month. The accused, Quwan Gordon, 48, of Owings Mills, was arrested on August 13, 2024, at his residence without incident, according to Maryland State Police.
Gordon faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other related offenses.
The charges stem from an incident on August 12, 2024, when Maryland State Troopers responded to a report of a shooting on Interstate 95 in Howard County. The victims informed police that they were shot at during a road rage altercation with another motorist driving a white Volkswagen.
Upon arriving at the scene, troopers observed that the victim’s vehicle had been struck by gunfire, with bullets penetrating the passenger compartment. Fortunately, the victims were not injured in the incident. The Maryland State Police Crime Scene Unit recovered projectiles from the vehicle as part of the investigation.
Investigators were able to identify and locate the white Volkswagen involved, leading them to Gordon. A search of Gordon’s Owings Mills residence and his vehicle resulted in the seizure of a loaded handgun and significant quantities of suspected MDMA and fentanyl. Due to prior felony convictions, Gordon is prohibited from possessing firearms. He was initially charged with gun and drug violations following the search.
Further investigation by Maryland State Police uncovered evidence linking Gordon to the highway shooting on I-95. After consultation with the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office, Gordon was formally charged with attempted murder and related offenses on August 23, 2024. He is currently being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
The Maryland State Police emphasized their commitment to addressing gun violence on Maryland’s highways and urged motorists to prioritize safety by avoiding aggressive driving and adhering to traffic laws. Investigations continue into other unrelated cases, with police encouraging anyone with information on these or other highway gun crimes to contact authorities.
