WALDORF, MD — As the Mega Millions jackpot continues to rise, a lucky player in Waldorf has won $10,000 in the latest drawing.
The winning ticket, sold at the Shoppers grocery store at 1170 Smallwood Drive, matched four of the first five numbers plus the Mega Ball in the August 20 drawing. The numbers were 5, 20, 26, 49, 51, with the Mega Ball number 24. This ticket was one of 23 nationwide third-tier winners of $10,000. The same drawing also produced a $1 million winner in Arizona and a $4 million winner in Delaware.
The Mega Millions jackpot, which has already been hit twice in 2024, is now estimated at $527 million for the upcoming drawing on Friday, August 23. The estimated cash option for this jackpot is $261.9 million. Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each, with sales closing at 10:45 p.m. on drawing nights. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. and can be viewed on the Maryland Lottery’s website.
