NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a robbery in the Bronx’s 43rd Precinct. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 11, at approximately 7:05 a.m. near the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and Purdy Street.
According to police reports, a 65-year-old man was seated on a bench when an unidentified individual approached him from behind. The suspect, armed with a firearm, demanded the victim’s jewelry and then fled the scene on foot. The individual was later seen entering a vehicle that headed southbound on Olmstead Avenue.
No injuries were reported in connection with the robbery. The NYPD described the suspect as a male with a medium complexion and a full beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, yellow shorts, white sneakers, and a black bucket hat.
The police have released images of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to come forward. “We are seeking the public’s help in identifying this individual,” the NYPD stated.
