NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an assault that occurred on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Broadway Lafayette Subway Station.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., a 71-year-old man was approached by an unidentified individual inside the station, located within the confines of the 5th Precinct and Transit District 4. The suspect reportedly punched the victim multiple times in the face, causing him to fall and strike his head on the subway platform. The victim suffered a laceration to the head and significant bruising and swelling to his face. He was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at large. He is described as a male with a heavy build and dark complexion, last seen wearing a red and black jacket, black pants, white sneakers, and pushing a hand truck.
