TEMPLE HILLS, Md., — Prince George’s County Police have charged an 18-year-old suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in Temple Hills. The suspect, identified as Izayah Matthews of Temple Hills, is accused of fatally shooting 43-year-old Antonio Bell of Oxon Hill.
The incident took place on August 18, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Huntley Square Drive. Officers responding to the scene found Bell in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man was also found with a gunshot wound, though his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
According to the preliminary investigation, Matthews shot Bell during a dispute before fleeing the scene. The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located and apprehended Matthews late Sunday night.
Matthews has been charged with first and second degree murder, as well as related charges. He is currently being held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
“The suspect is in custody,” the Prince George’s County Police Department said in a statement, confirming Matthews’ arrest and the ongoing investigation into the incident.
