STAFFORD, Va., — Stafford County deputies arrested two drivers on DUI charges in separate incidents early Saturday morning, both of which involved apparent intoxication behind the wheel.
The first incident occurred at approximately 12:33 a.m. on August 17, 2024, when Deputy A.E. Epps responded to a single-vehicle accident on Forbes Street. According to the caller, the driver had crashed his vehicle into a patch of bushes and appeared intoxicated, stumbling as he attempted to regain his footing. When deputies arrived, they observed clear signs of intoxication. The driver admitted to consuming roughly five beers before driving. Despite his request to “walk it off” and make his way home, deputies arrested him and transported him to Rappahannock Regional Jail. He was charged with driving under the influence and held until sober.
Shortly after, at 1:23 a.m., Deputy A.J. Charoenthep observed a motorcycle without rear lights on Butler Road near the Sunoco station at 201 Emancipation Highway. Deputy Charoenthep initiated a traffic stop, but before the motorcycle came to a complete stop, the driver lost control and nearly crashed. The driver exhibited signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking three beers before getting on his motorcycle. He was charged with driving under the influence and having improper tail lights. Like the first suspect, he was also held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
Both incidents highlight ongoing efforts by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office to combat impaired driving and ensure road safety.
“The prickly situation blossomed,” the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office noted in its report, underscoring the dangers of driving under the influence and the department’s commitment to enforcing DUI laws.
