CARNEGIE, Pa. — The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a woman found severely beaten under a bridge in Carnegie early Sunday morning.
At approximately 6:20 a.m. on August 18, 2024, Allegheny County 9-1-1 received a call reporting a woman in distress under a bridge in the 200 block of Mary Street. First responders arrived at the scene and discovered an adult female victim who had suffered severe injuries. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim, along with two adult males, had been living under the bridge. Earlier in the evening, police and medics had responded to a call at the same location for one of the males experiencing a seizure. That individual was transported to a nearby hospital, while the other male and the female victim were reported to have no injuries at the time.
Later, authorities were called back to the location where they found the female victim fatally beaten. The second male at the scene was detained by police and subsequently transported to Allegheny County Police Headquarters for further questioning.
All individuals involved have been identified, and investigators have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community. The Allegheny County Police Department is working closely with the District Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues.
Detectives are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances leading to the woman’s death. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
