SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — A man is in custody following a stabbing incident that occurred early Sunday morning on the 200 block of S. Brandywine Avenue. Schenectady Police responded to a report of a fight involving a stabbing at approximately 1:09 a.m. and found a male victim suffering from a serious stab wound to the chest.
The victim was immediately transported to Albany Medical Center, where he was stabilized and is currently in stable condition, according to police.
Thanks to a quick response, officers in the area were able to locate and arrest the suspect shortly after the incident. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Marcus Jeffress of Schenectady. He has been charged with Assault in the First Degree, a Class B felony, and is being held at Schenectady County Jail pending arraignment.
Members of the Schenectady Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit processed the scene, while detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
No further details have been released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
