DORCHESTER, Mass. — A road rage incident in Dorchester on Thursday evening resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old man and the recovery of a loaded firearm. Davente Monteiro, of Dorchester, was arrested by officers from Boston Police District B-2 (Roxbury) following a heated altercation near Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on August 15, 2024, officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at 488 Blue Hill Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim, who was visibly upset and pointing at a nearby occupied vehicle.
The victim informed officers that a verbal altercation had occurred while he was driving near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.
The dispute escalated when both vehicles stopped at a red light. According to the victim, Monteiro, a passenger in the other vehicle, exited the car, photographed the victim’s vehicle, and then opened the passenger side door of the victim’s car, making threats that led the victim to believe Monteiro was armed.
Officers conducted an investigation, including a pat-frisk of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of a Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun inside a backpack in the backseat. The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and 17 rounds in a high-capacity magazine. The firearm was also equipped with a magazine extension and a rail accessory.
Monteiro was detained along with the other two occupants of the vehicle. Following the investigation, Monteiro was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on multiple charges, including carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault with a dangerous weapon, and threat to commit a crime.
Boston Police B-2 Detectives responded to the scene to process the firearm and continue the investigation.
