CHICAGO, Ill. — An 18-year-old male has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm, according to the Chicago Police Department. The charges stem from two incidents that occurred on July 21, 2024.
The juvenile offender was apprehended on August 15, 2024, in the 9300 block of South Rhodes Avenue. He was identified as a participant in the armed hijacking of a vehicle from a 55-year-old woman at approximately 5:50 p.m. in the 9000 block of South Greenwood Avenue, located in the 4th District.
The offender is also linked to a second aggravated vehicular hijacking that took place about an hour later in the 7600 block of South Cicero Avenue in the 8th District, where a 47-year-old woman was similarly victimized.
The offender has been taken into custody and charged with the crimes. No further details have been released at this time.
