WASHINGTON, D.C.— Two suspects have been arrested in connection with an assault and attempted robbery that took place in Northeast D.C. on August 7th.
The incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. in the 4600 block of Burroughs Avenue, Northeast, where the victim was approached by two individuals, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The suspects assaulted the victim and demanded his property. After the victim complied, the suspects fled the scene in a black Nissan Versa with D.C. registration.
On Wednesday, August 14, members of the United States Park Police located the wanted vehicle and detained it. The Sixth District Detectives Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
As a result of their efforts, 25-year-old Gregory Howard Grooms of Northeast and 25-year-old Debon Antonio Thomas of Southeast were arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery.
