TRENTON, NJ — Acting Governor Tahesha Way has announced a State of Emergency for New Jersey, effective 6:00 PM today, in preparation for the anticipated severe weather from the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby.
This precautionary measure, detailed in Executive Order No. 364, applies to all 21 counties in the state.
The impending severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, high winds, and potential flash flooding, have prompted the Acting Governor to urge residents to remain indoors and avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.
“I have declared a State of Emergency starting at 6:00 PM today, due to the severe weather impacts caused by Tropical Storm Debby,” stated Acting Governor Way. She emphasized the importance of staying off the roads to ensure personal safety and to facilitate emergency responses.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by visiting New Jersey’s official emergency preparedness website, ready.nj.gov, and to keep up with local forecasts and warnings.
For those in Northern New Jersey and the New York Metro area, updates are available from the U.S. National Weather Service New York, NY, and for Central and Southern New Jersey, from the U.S. National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly.
