BALTIMORE — The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has issued Tornado Watch 616, effective today until 2 PM EDT, covering numerous counties across Maryland. The affected counties include Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, and several others reaching from Caroline to Worcester.
Additionally, a Gale Warning is in place for all tidal waters until 10 PM tonight, coinciding with a Coastal Flood Warning for Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Washington D.C., and Alexandria, expected to last through this afternoon. Anne Arundel County will remain under a flood warning into tonight.
Today’s forecast warns of potential severe thunderstorms across the outlook area until 5 PM, with a south wind reaching speeds of up to 24 mph and gusts possibly hitting 41 mph. The likelihood of precipitation stands at 90%, with rainfall expected to range between a half and three-quarters of an inch.
Tonight, the storm threat will decrease with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 PM. Conditions are expected to clear gradually after early evening clouds, with temperatures dropping to a low of around 73 degrees. Winds will shift from southwest to west after midnight, possibly gusting up to 18 mph.
