ARNOLD, PA – A tragic incident unfolded last weekend in Arnold where a Pennsylvania man, identified as Brian Rebold, 38, is accused of fatally stabbing his 73-year-old mother, Diana Rebold, in broad daylight.
The Arnold Police and Westmoreland County Detective Bureau responded to the scene of the crime on Sunday, August 4, around 5:38 PM on Liberty Avenue.
Witnesses reported a horrific scene as they watched the stabbing unfold in the middle of the street. Several neighbors provided statements to the responding officers. Brian Rebold, who had called 911 to report the incident, was found near his mother, who lay unresponsive and bleeding profusely from her head.
The weapon used in the attack was recovered from a neighboring yard.
Diana Rebold suffered multiple stab wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son, Brian, was charged with criminal homicide and first-degree murder. He is currently held without bail at the Westmoreland County Prison. The case has shocked the community of Arnold, a small town along the Allegheny River in the northeast of the Pittsburgh metro area.
