DOVER, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested 21-year-old Terrence Mears of Dover and 18-year-old Joseph Wilson IV of Smyrna on several charges related to drugs and firearms. The arrests occurred after a traffic stop on August 5, 2024, on David Hall Road in Kent County.
The incident began when a detective from the Kent County Governor’s Task Force observed a Dodge Caliber, driven by Mears, failing to signal while turning onto Charles Polk Road. Upon contact, the detective detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the car.
During a consented search of Mears, police discovered several bags containing approximately .063 grams of suspected heroin along with marijuana. A more thorough search of the vehicle yielded a loaded firearm, additional ammunition, 30.38 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Both Mears and Wilson were found to be prohibited from possessing firearms.
Following these discoveries, both individuals were taken into custody and transported to Troop 3. They now face multiple charges, highlighting ongoing efforts by Delaware State Police to combat illegal drug distribution and firearms possession.
