Moreover, all Troop emergency power and communication equipment has been thoroughly tested to ensure readiness.
Severe Weather Safety Tips
State Police urge residents to prepare for severe weather by stocking up on essential supplies:
- Flashlights and extra batteries
- Battery-operated radio and additional batteries
- First aid kit and manual
- Emergency food and water supply
- Non-electric can opener
- Essential medications
- Financial essentials such as checkbooks, cash, credit cards, and ATM cards
Flash Flooding Safety Recommendations
In the event of flash flooding, residents are advised to take the following precautions:
- Avoid driving on flooded roads. Turning around to find an alternative route is safer.
- If trapped in a vehicle with rapidly rising water levels, evacuate the vehicle immediately.
- Never underestimate the power of fast-moving water. As little as two feet of fast-moving flood water can float a car, and water moving at just two miles per hour is capable of sweeping vehicles off roads or bridges.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed and adhere to these safety tips to protect themselves and their property during severe weather conditions.
