NORTH CASTLE – The Town of North Castle Police Department has issued an urgent advisory following severe weather impacts throughout the area. As of Sunday, August 4, at 8:07 a.m., multiple roads have been closed due to downed trees and power lines.
SR-22 is currently inaccessible between Upland Ln and Baldwin Rd because of fallen trees entangling power lines. The damage has severely impacted Con Edison’s infrastructure, with repair crews presently at the scene.
Additional closures include Byram Lake Road, between Byram Hill Rd and Old Byram Lake Rd, and Hadley Road near #2, both due to trees falling onto electrical wires.
Con Edison advises customers to report outages and check service restoration status online or by calling 1-800-752-6633. The public is urged not to use police department lines for power loss reports to keep them open for emergencies. All downed wires should be considered live and dangerous.
For life-threatening emergencies, residents should dial 911. For non-emergency issues, such as traffic disruptions or downed trees, North Castle Police can be reached at 914-273-9500.
Safety reminders include proper generator use—operate them outside to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning and ensure they are away from combustible materials. The public is also warned against driving or walking through road closures to maintain safety.
