CLARKSTOWN, NY – A potentially dangerous altercation involving a firearm was swiftly handled by the Clarkstown Police Department on Friday, August 2, leading to two arrests. The incident, reported around 11:20 a.m., occurred in the Home Depot parking lot at 43 Hutton Ave., Nanuet.
Police were alerted to a dispute between two males, one reportedly brandishing a handgun.
An off-duty detective provided descriptions of the suspects involved, leading to a quick response. The armed male and a female accomplice were seen fleeing the scene in a black BMW X3.
The vehicle was intercepted by police on Route 59 near Grandview Ave. Adreon Clair, 26, and Ashley Clair, 26, both from Patterson, NJ, were detained in the vehicle where a loaded black semi-automatic handgun was discovered in a handbag.
The Clairs face charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and unlawful possession of an ammo-feed device. Following their arraignment in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court, bail was set at $20,000 for Mr. Clair and $10,000 for Ms. Clair, with both being held at Rockland County Jail pending further proceedings.
