NEW YORK, NY – In a recent court appearance, a suspect was indicted on murder charges and several other criminal counts related to the fatal attack on a Department of Social Services caseworker.
The incident occurred when the caseworker, mistakenly knocking on the wrong apartment door, was brutally assaulted.
The attack happened on May 14th in Peekskill, where 56-year-old Maria Coto was found unconscious at the scene with serious head injuries.
Authorities arrested 31-year-old Hasseem Jenkins at the location. Jenkins, who reportedly wore “heavy boots” during the assault, has been held at Westchester County Jail on charges of attempted murder and assault.
The charges were upgraded following Coto’s death one month after the assault.
