EXETER, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local VFW is frying up a community favorite on Sunday: crispy potato pancakes, all to support outreach programs.
VFW Post 6518 hosted its Third Annual Potato Pancake Sale on Sunday, welcoming both members and non-members to place orders over the phone or in person.
These golden, crispy pancakes, sold at $6 for four or $1.50 each, were provided by Yogis’ Potato Pancakes.
All proceeds from the event will help fund their community outreach efforts throughout the year, including children’s Christmas and Easter parties, school scholarships, and other initiatives.
It was not just about giving back, customers say the food did not disappoint.
“It feels good to know that the community is supporting the VFW,” said VFW Post 6518 Trustee Sydney Williams.
“The potato pancakes are very delicious, best I had in a long time,” Pittston resident William Stucker said.
When we stopped by shortly after they opened, several orders had already been picked up, a good sign for fundraising efforts.
