WASHINGTON, D.C. – The D.C. Metro Police Department is actively investigating a severe traffic crash in Southeast that resulted in one fatality and injuries to a pedestrian.
Early Sunday morning, a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu carrying two women was traveling eastbound in the 5200 block of East Capitol Street when it collided with several vehicles and overturned. While a male and female passerby were assisting, a 2013 Lexus GS350 hit the male pedestrian and the Malibu before the driver fled on foot.
The male pedestrian received medical attention at a local hospital. Tragically, the driver of the Malibu, identified as 34-year-old Taneisha Parker from Capitol Heights, MD, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Later, at around 4:26 a.m., police located and detained 39-year-old Terrance Gordan from Southeast D.C., matching the description of the Lexus driver, at a DCFEMS firehouse. Gordan, who displayed injuries consistent with a traffic accident, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry and Leaving After Colliding, with additional charges pending as the investigation continues.
