WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for a suspect who they say robbed a store at gunpoint.
According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on March 7, around 5:00 a.m., officers were called to a business on the 600 block of Hazle Street for a report of an armed robbery.
Once on the scene, the employee stated to police that the suspect entered the business and asked to purchase two packs of cigarettes.
The victim claimed the suspect took out a gun and demanded money from inside the cash register as well as the victim’s phone.
The suspect took an undetermined amount of money and several packs of cigarettes before fleeing the business.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
