READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ—The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Readington Township Police Department have issued charges against two Staten Island men, Richard B. Gonzalez and Ryan S. Gonzalez, following an incident at a family reunion on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
The altercation, which involved a knife and a handgun, occurred around 1:46 PM on Emmons Rd.
Prior to the reunion, an unrelated domestic dispute led to the involvement of the Gonzalez twins. According to witnesses, the two arrived at the scene and engaged in violent behavior towards the guests. They reportedly fled in a gray Honda Accord bearing New York plates before police could arrive.
Richard B. Gonzalez has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree terroristic threats. Ryan S. Gonzalez faces charges of second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree terroristic threats, third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Victims received on-site medical treatment but declined hospitalization. The second-degree charges against the Gonzalez brothers could carry penalties of five to ten years in prison and fines up to $150,000, while third-degree charges could result in three to five years in prison and fines not exceeding $15,000.
Authorities have stressed that the charges are not evidence of guilt and that the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Both men remain at large, and law enforcement is seeking any information regarding their whereabouts.
