JERSEY CITY, NJ—In a recent court ruling, Tyquan Baisden, 28, of Jersey City, was sentenced to 17 years in New Jersey State Prison for the 2021 killing of 27-year-old Diamond Davila. Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the details following the sentencing by the Honorable Angelo Servidio on Thursday, July 25.
Baisden had pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter on May 2, admitting his role in the death of Davila. Under the terms of his sentence, which falls under the No Early Release Act, Baisden will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 85 percent of his term.
The case dates back to October 19, 2021, when Jersey City Police responded to a call at 131 Woodlawn Avenue. Officers discovered Davila deceased at the scene. The Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed that Davila’s death was a result of homicidal violence, officially ruled as a homicide.
