BROOKLYN, NY – The New York City Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance to identify suspects involved in a series of grand larcenies occurring in the 79th Precinct. The incidents involved two individuals on a black scooter targeting unsuspecting victims by forcibly removing jewelry.
The first reported incident occurred on Sunday, July 14, at around 11:40 PM in front of 760 Broadway. A 32-year-old woman was approached by the suspects, who forcibly took a chain from her neck, which had a ring attached, before fleeing west on Flushing Avenue.
Minutes later, at approximately 11:45 PM, a similar attempt took place near Nostrand Avenue and Hart Street. A 24-year-old woman was approached, and her chain was snatched; however, the chain was dropped and later recovered by the victim. In this instance, the suspects fled east on Hart Street.
Descriptions of the suspects have been provided: The first individual, who disembarked from the scooter to commit the thefts, is described as a male with a medium build and complexion, last seen wearing a black shirt, blue hat, black pants, and black sneakers. The second suspect, who drove the scooter, is also described as a male with a medium build and complexion, last seen in a white tank-top, gray pants, and black sneakers.
The NYPD has released media related to the suspects and urges anyone with information to come forward to help resolve these cases.
