Iona Pollard Obituary, Death; – A suspect has been identified in connection with the arson of a residence where a woman was fatally shot just days earlier, as reported by the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The incident involving the shooting and subsequent fire occurred on Rocky Knoll Lane, located in a community just south of Richmond. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
On Sunday, February 9, deputies conducted a welfare check at the residence shortly before 1 p.m. and discovered Iona Pollard, 52, deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Her husband, David Pollard, 47, has been charged with her murder, with his bond set at $300,000.
Both David and Iona Pollard were employed by Lamar CISD, with David serving as the safety coordinator for the district. LCISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens stated that Iona Pollard worked as an instructional coach at George Junior High School.
Nearly a week following the tragic shooting, a fire was reported at the residence. An investigation by the fire marshal’s office concluded that the fire had been deliberately set. On Wednesday, the fire marshal’s office announced that laboratory results from evidence collected at the fire scene confirmed the presence of ignitable liquids.
